It’s the return of “Tango Tuesday”!
Last fall, in anticipation of the Pedro Giraudo Tango Quartet’s debut at Musicfest, we explored the musical genre of tango through a series of weekly e-blasts.
At the center of the tango art form (and therefore the frequent focus of our e-blasts) was Astor Piazzolla, the Argentinian composer who revolutionized the traditional tango. In the 1950’s, Piazzolla created a new style termed Nuevo tango which incorporated elements of jazz and classical music.
This coming Saturday marks the anniversary of Piazzolla’s passing. In honor of the great composer, here now is the Pedro Giraudo Tango Quartet’s stunning Musicfest performance of Piazzolla’s “Milonga del Angel”.
