In June of 1959, the Dave Brubeck Quartet entered a recording studio in NYC to begin work on a new album titled Time Out. A revolutionary jazz record that is now regarded as one the greatest recordings of all time, the LP included the tracks “Take Five” and “Blue Rondo a la Turk”. This past December, the Grammy award winning vocal jazz quartet New York Voices entertained Musicfest audiences with a mix of holiday favorites and jazz classics. To close out the concert’s first half, they sang their own arrangement of Brubeck’s famous “Blue Rondo a la Turk”. Enjoy this special encore excerpt.
