This past season, Arizona Musicfest was thrilled to present the return of John Pizzarelli to our Musicfest stage. For his January 27th concert, John and his talented sidemen performed a special tribute to Nat King Cole, celebrating 100 years of the iconic musician. In the intro to the classic Cole tune “It’s Only a Paper Moon”, John shared an amusing story involving his father, jazz legend Bucky Pizzarelli. Sadly, on April 1st, Bucky (pictured below performing with John at Musicfest in 2008) passed away due to complications related to COVID-19.
