VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Volunteers are critical to the success of Arizona Musicfest.  Acting as ambassadors for Arizona Musicfest, volunteers plan, organize and participate in programs and events offered by the organization.  Following is a list of volunteer opportunities and related requirements:

YOUTH EDUCATION, SCHOOLS

The Youth Education program promotes music education in schools by introducing exposure to classical music, reinforcing interest through live performances, and, thereby, developing future audiences.  Youth Education volunteers work with elementary school staff to promote Musicfest Minutes, our daily classical music listening program.  Additionally, these volunteers assist with planning small live music programs held at the schools which participate in Musicfest Minutes.  They may also serve as ushers to students for the live performances which are held in large venues away from school.

Volunteers for Youth Education must enjoy limited interactions with children and possess good organization and communication skills.

YOUTH EDUCATION, YOUNG MUSICIANS COMPETITION

Volunteers for the Young Musician Competition assist with the creation of this annual competition.  They will help plan, manage, and carry-out all aspects of the event, including set up, lunch for judges and volunteers, and a reception for young musicians and their parents following the finals. Volunteers may choose to work with the young musicians and their family members, “shepherding” them through the competition process.

Young Musicians Competition volunteers must be upbeat, energetic, and possess the poise needed to work with young musicians and their parents.

FESTIVAL USHERS

Ushers interact with concert attendees at the Arizona Musicfest Festival concerts by scanning tickets, distributing programs and assisting people to locate their seats.  The ushers arrive before the concert to receive specific assignments and to review the venue to become familiar with seating sections and locations of the venue’s key features.    At the end of the concert, volunteers clean up the auditorium by picking up programs and other items left behind.

Volunteers who serve as ushers for the Festival must be helpful, friendly and courteous, acting as ambassadors for Arizona Musicfest.  They must be able to stand or walk for an extended period of time.

FUNDRAISERS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

Arizona Musicfest fundraisers are social formats to engage attendees to help raise money for our organization’s programs. Volunteers can either be part of a specific committee to help plan and execute the social event, or they can volunteer for the needs of a specific fundraiser (examples: registration, sale of raffle tickets, transportation via golf carts at the Putting Tournament, and many more).   Each of the fundraisers has different needs for volunteers; therefore, volunteers can sign up for separate events.

Small receptions are hosted by Arizona Musicfest.  Volunteers are needed for duties appropriate to the particular reception.

Fundraiser volunteers must be outgoing with excellent people skills.  They must be positive and possess good organizational skills.

HOSPITALITY

Arizona Musicfest provides and serves daily lunches and snacks to the Festival Orchestra members during their rehearsal week in February.   Volunteers are needed to prepare the meals with provided foods, serve the meals to orchestra members, and clean up each day.

Hospitality volunteers must be energetic and organized.  They must be friendly and courteous.
