ABOUT US
Established in 2008, the Arizona Musicfest Festival Chorus (Dr. Sharon A. Hansen, Director) has been praised for its stellar performances of the choral-orchestral repertory. The Festival Chorus performs each season with Maestro Robert Moody and the Arizona Musicfest Festival Orchestra, a major destination for the nation's finest orchestral musicians.

AUDITIONS
Auditions are held in October by appointment. The audition is the chance for our Chorus Director to hear your voice and assess your ability to fit into the Chorus. You are asked to prepare one short piece (art song, folk song, or hymn), approximately 1.5–2 minutes in length. A professional accompanist is provided for the audition.

The five-minute audition usually follows this format:

  • Sing the prepared, short song of your choice (art song, folk song, or hymn)
  • Demonstrate your vocal range
  • Sing back intervals played on the piano to check your tonal memory
  • Brief interview

Because we are a Festival Chorus, our time commitment occurs in a tightly compressed calendar period: twice-weekly rehearsals (Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings) take place in mid-to-late January and February. If you previously participated in the Arizona Musicfest Festival Chorus – or sang in another community, church, temple, or collegiate chorus – or have studied music – you already are a good candidate! Tell your friends and colleagues – all firmly grounded choral musicians are encouraged to audition!

We are currently scheduling auditioning appointments for the 2018/19 Season.
