10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join Chapman Stick musician and author Michael Kollwitz for an inspiring (and sometimes funny) presentation that blends live music, personal stories, and lessons on resilience. As one of the first students of Emmett Chapman, inventor of the Chapman Stick®, Michael’s journey from novice to master of this unique instrument is as unexpected as it is inspiring. His book, Stick With It – Adventures of a Chapman Stick Player, captures the passion, perseverance, and quirky moments along the way.

Through heartfelt music and humorous anecdotes, Michael demonstrates that it’s never too late to try something new, follow your passions, or embrace the unexpected. This program will leave you feeling uplifted and ready to tackle your next adventure—whatever that may be.

Michael Kollwitz

Michael Kollwitz is a speaker and artist with a unique expertise: he combines creative principles with his corporate sales experience to teach audiences how to become “Problem-Solving Artists.” Michael brings a unique perspective with a twenty-year history in corporate sales and another twenty years as an award-winning recording artist. He believes that everyone, whether in teams or as individuals, has the potential to tap into their inner creativity and become problem-solving artists.

Michael’s journey is a testament to his problem-solving skills. As a young man, he took on the challenge of learning a revolutionary new instrument from the inventor himself. Despite numerous obstacles, he carved out a successful career playing an instrument unfamiliar to most. His hundreds of corporate performances, Billboard-charting recordings, and a book chronicling his career journey, “Stick With It,” are all products of his creative problem-solving abilities.

He combines live music on the Chapman Stick® with humor and audience engagement to teach a new mindset for creative problem-solving to teams and individuals who are interested in experiencing continuous improvement, and they’ll LOVE the experience of musical illustrations using The Stick as an example of creative problem-solving.
