Book by TERRENCE MCNALLY · Music by STEPHEN FLAHERTY · Lyrics by LYNN AHRENS · Based on the novel “Ragtime” By E. L. Doctorow

Winner of four Tony Awards in 1998, Ragtime follows three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream. Based on E. L. Doctorow’s novel, and celebrated for its soaring musical score filled with ragtime, blues, jazz and show tunes, Ragtime, the musical, offers a moving portrait of America in the early 20th century. Produced in collaboration with the Herberger Theater Center, Arizona Musicfest’s production will feature guest Broadway stars, some of the top musical theater performers of the Valley, and the Musicfest Pops Ensemble, under the direction of Musicfest Resident Artist Josh Condon, with stage direction by Mark Stoddard. Don’t miss this theatrical concert experience!

Ragtime is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Ragtime is based on the 1975 historical fiction novel of the same name by E.L. Doctorow. As historical fiction, the production uses some strong language, including racial and ethnic slurs, as it explores and uncovers the societal landscape of the early 1900’s.
