Kodachrome is a multi award-winning saxophone quartet founded by four graduate students from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Since forming in 2022, Kodachrome has performed and competed throughout the US receiving 1st Prizes in the 10th Coltman Chamber Music Competition, 10th Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and the Gold Medal at the 50th Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. In August 2023, Kodachrome was invited as an ensemble representing the U.S. to perform in the Chengdu International Sister City Music Festival held in Chengdu, China. In September 2023, Kodachrome performed and taught throughout the Midwest during the Double Gold Tour, which was sponsored by the Fischoff Chamber Music Association. Throughout the tour, Kodachrome performed at universities, colleges, soirees, junior high, and high schools in states including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. Kodachrome was also a featured ensemble on WFMT as a part of the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series held in Chicago, Illinois.

Kodachrome enjoys playing all genres of music, with focus on collaborating with composers that move the instrument forward and provide enriching experiences for audiences. Every fall semester, Kodachrome participates in the annual Prisms Contemporary Music Festival held at ASU, where the quartet collaborates with contemporary composers and premieres new works written for the saxophone quartet and various chamber ensembles with the saxophone. The quartet is dedicated to sharing their music within the Greater Phoenix Area and abroad, building a strong community through music. Kodachrome has upcoming performances in Phoenix and several tours throughout the U.S. for the 2023/2024 season and is looking forward to sharing their music with many audiences. Founding members of Kodachrome are Calvin Wong on soprano saxophone, Jade Deatherage on alto saxophone, Siobhan Plouffe on tenor saxophone, and Bonson Lee on baritone saxophone.

Bonson Lee

Bonson Lee

Bonson Lee currently resides in Tempe, AZ, and teaches in the Phoenix area including being the Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and Chamber Ensembles at Glendale Community College, Ottawa University, and the Woodwind Caption Head/Saxophone Teacher at Campo Verde High School. As an active musician, Lee has competed and been awarded prizes in the solo and chamber rounds throughout his music career, recently including the Gold Medal at the 50th Fischoff Chamber Music Competition with his saxophone quartet, Kodachrome.

In addition to numerous solo performances within the US and abroad, Lee has great experience in chamber music playing and collaboration in many wind ensembles and saxophone ensembles, one of which was being the baritone chair of the Kodachrome. Through Kodachrome, Lee has been able to educate and perform at numerous high schools and universities in the US. Competitively, Kodachrome has recently won the First Prize at the 10th Coltman, 10th Plowman, and the Gold Medal at the 50th Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions.

Lee earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at Arizona State University under Dr. Christopher Creviston. Lee also earned a Master of Music from Arizona State University Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts School of Music and a Bachelor’s of Music at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Music. His current and former saxophone teachers include Dr. Creviston, Mark McArthur, John Seaton, and Eric Maine.

Lee is an endorsing artist for Silverstein Works, LefreQue Sound Solutions, ReedGeek Inc., and D’Addario Woodwinds.

Siobhan Plouffe

Siobhan Plouffe

Siobhan Plouffe, from Rochester, NY, is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Saxophone Performance at Arizona State University under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Creviston where she also completed her Master’s in Saxophone Performance. Siobhan completed her undergraduate degree in Saxophone Performance at the Eastman School of Music. Siobhan also holds a Bachelor of Science in Audio and Music Engineering from the University of Rochester.

Siobhan is a founding member of Kodachrome, a multi award-winning saxophone quartet that has seen fast success. Since it’s formation in September of 2022, Kodachrome has placed first in the 10th Coltman Chamber Music Competition, 10th Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and received the Gold Medal at the 50th Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Most recently, Kodachrome was invited to China to perform in the Chengdu International Sister City Music Festival. At ASU, Siobhan is a teaching assistant for the saxophone studio where she is responsible for providing instruction to undergraduate students and teaching methods classes. As a soloist, Siobhan received honorable mention for the 2023 MTNA Competition and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Arosa Music Academy in 2022 in Switzerland. In 2020, Siobhan was the winner of the 2020 Empire State Collegiate Solo Competition and was given honorable mention in 2019.

Jade Deatherage

Saxophonist Jade Deatherage is currently in her first year of doctoral study at Arizona State University under the instruction of Dr.Christopher Creviston.  Jade received her Master’s degree in saxophone performance at ASU and her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida, where she studied with Dr.George Weremchuk. Throughout her career, Jade has performed as a soloist in recital and concert settings, as a soloist with orchestra, and has been a member of several competitive saxophone quartets, the most recent of which is Kodachrome, with which she was awarded first prize in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition, Plowman Chamber Music Competition and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.  A multi-instrumentalist, Jade has performed on television and in orchestral and musical theater settings on a variety of instruments, ranging from cello to piccolo.  Jade is an educator in the Phoenix area, and currently one of two teaching assistants for the ASU saxophone studio and an assistant director of the ASU Saxophone Choir.

Calvin Wong

Being an emerging saxophone artist and pedagogue on international stages and institutions, Calvin Wong promotes the upbringing of young saxophonists and emerging composers. His artistry has brought him to Austin, Bangkok, Beijing, Chicago, Hong Kong, Iceland, Nanjing, New York, Phoenix, Scotland, Singapore, Soochow, Taiwan, and Zagreb. Performances were broadcast at KMFA 89.5 and RTHK. Calvin received the Gold Medal of the 4th Manhattan International Music Competition, and First Prize of the VIII Stockholm International Music Competition. As a founding member of Kodachrome saxophone quartet, he has received gold medals at the 50th Fischoff, 10th Plowman, and 10th Coltman Chamber Music Competitions.

Calvin served as the graduate teaching assistant at Arizona State University while pursuing his doctorate degree under the tutelage of Christopher Creviston. His debut album was released in Spring 2023. For more information, please visit www.calvin-wong.com.
