May 2 & 9
Tuesdays | 10:00 - 11:30am
Join us for our listening group for pieces from the orchestral canon!
We’ll continue our Spring & Summer of American Symphonic Music with Howard Hanson’s “Romantic” Second Symphony. Hanson, the longtime director of the Eastman School of music, was a passionate advocate of American symphonic music, and premiered William Grant Still’s first symphony with the Rochester Philharmonic. We’ll pause at intervals throughout the piece to discuss what we hear, what we notice, and where we think the piece is going as we make our way through!
Howard Hanson: Symphony No.2 in D-flat Major, Op.30 W45, “Romantic”
