In celebration of our upcoming “Trailblazing Women of Country Music” performance at AZ Musicfest, we take a look at the unique history and legacy of the country music genre. From its birth a century ago in the 1920s, you may be surprised to learn of Country Music’s unique diversity, drawing from the traditions of the African-American, Appalachian, Mexican, Irish, Hawaiian, and Native American communities.
We’ll listen to a fascinating playlist of music that helps trace the development of the genre, which includes hopefully some of your favorites!
