Allan Naplan (NaplanMusic.com) maintains an active career as a non-profit arts executive, composer and cantorial soloist.  Since 2013, Allan has served as Executive and Producing Director, CEO of Arizona Musicfest in Scottsdale, AZ. In this capacity, he oversees all concert season programming and business operations of the acclaimed non-profit arts organization.  An accomplished musician, Allan has enjoyed a long career as a composer of choral music and solo repertoire, for both secular and Jewish religious settings. Allan’s choral works have sold more than 1.2 million copies worldwide. An award-winning composer, his works have been heard at Carnegie Hall, The White House The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in space on-board Space Shuttle Columbia (Mission STS-107) and in distinguished concert venues around the world.    As a cantorial soloist and composer of contemporary Jewish music, Allan’s settings of prayers and related texts have become popular repertoire for services and other cultural events.

Allan has been invited by North Shore Congregation Israel to perform an afternoon concert program featuring his original works.  Along with Allan’s solo performances of his music, he’ll also be joined by guest Chicago-based cantors to sing his pieces, and he’ll also share video recordings of choirs from all around the world performing his music.

More About Allan:

Allan’s first two choral works were published in 1994.  These early works—Al Shlosha D’Varim and Hine Ma Tov—remain as Naplan’s top-selling pieces, as well as two of the best-selling choral works in the children’s choral repertoire.  Additional popular choral works by Naplan include An American Anthem (served as the wake up song for the astronauts on Space Shuttle Columbia, STS-107); Sim Shalom (commissioned by the Young Voices of Colorado for the one-year anniversary of the the Columbine High School tragedy); Schlof Main Kind, A Yiddish Lullaby  (entered into the music archives of the United States Holocaust Museum in 1998; performed on multiple concerts featuring the Violins of Hope, a collection of violins recovered from the Holocaust); Hatikva (Naplan’s arrangement of the Israeli national anthem performed before Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak); as well as Shiru, Let Me Know Beauty, and others.

A two-time winner of the Guild of Temple Musicians “Young Composers Award” for his settings of Mi Chamocha and Yitgadal, Naplan’s music has been featured as part of regional, national and international conferences and concerts of the Union for Reform Judaism, the Guild of Temple Musicians, the American Conference of Cantors, the Cantor’s Assembly, the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, and Hadassah.  Allan’s many original settings of traditional service prayers have become standard repertoire for cantors, song leaders, and temples around the country.

A former professional opera singer, Allan has continued his singing as a cantorial soloist, serving congregations in Texas, Wisconsin, California, Massachusetts, New York, and Arizona.
