Join Musicfest Director of Community Music Programs and Resident Artist Joshua Condon for group listening sessions of major orchestral works. Featuring repertoire from this season’s Festival Orchestra Week, as well as other symphonic works of note, each session will provide an engaging deep dive analysis into the chosen composition. Utilizing a projected full score of the work, representative sound and video recordings, as well as live performance, Josh will dissect the musical elements of the chosen work. Of consideration will be questions of compositional themes, instrumentation, rhythm, tempo, mood, interpretation, and other elements of note.

The goal of these sessions is not to simply listen to the music, but rather to slow down and consider the parts of a piece in new ways, developing our ears and appreciation for the multitude of elements that comprise a classical orchestral work.
