MUSICFEST JAZZ PROGRAM

Arizona Musicfest is excited to offer students the opportunity to attend a Dixieland Jazz program. Not only do the students have an opportunity to hear great Dixieland Jazz music played live, but they also learn about the history of Jazz, developed here in the USA. Two dancers join the jazz band to demonstrate the various fashionable dance steps, from the Lindy Hop to the Collegiate Shag.  Arizona Musicfest provides a unique jazz program for sixth grade students in five school districts.  The history of jazz, a unique American music form, is presented by Joe Hopkins and the 52nd Street Jazz Band.  Students learn about the progression of the music as two dancers demonstrate various dances popular in different eras.
